Job description: The chosen candidate will integrate a research group
investigating the diversity and effects of natural toxins produced by
cyanobacteria and algae. The research group includes 5 researchers, 5 PhD
students, one technician and 10 undergraduate and MSc students
(http://www.ciimar.up.pt/lean/eng/index.html).  The candidate will be in charge
of the research line dealing with evaluation of physiological effects of toxins
in various organisms using molecular methods, in special the "omics" approach
(proteomics, genomics and metabolomics). The candidate will have the
opportunity to supervise PhD and MSc students and to prepare and coordinate
research projects.

Qualifications and experience: Candidates must have a PhD in Molecular Biology
or Animal Physiology in relation with the study of analysis of effects of
toxicants in organisms. A 3 year post doctoral experience and a strong
motivation for group work is needed. Laboratorial experience on proteomics,
genomics and/or metabolomics is a must. Experience using real time PCR,
immunohistochemical and immunofluoresce techniques or chromatographic methods
for detection and quantification of biological metabolites will be appreciated.
Knowledge of public databases and experience of analysis of sequences and data
mining will be advantageous.

Contractual conditions: Initial 3 year contract, in accordance with current
legislation and payment according to FCT.
