TOXIC CYANOBACTERIA. TOOLS FOR TOXIN ANALYSIS AND EFFECTS
ON AQUATIC ORGANISMS

CIIMAR and FCUP

This intensive course will be focused on the detection methods for toxic
cyanobacteria and the study of their effects on aquatic organisms. How do we
match traditional identification method with molecular tools? What kind of
bioassays or chemical methods should we use? What are the major problems
associated with the occurrence of toxic cyanobacteria?. These will some of the
aspects that will be raised during this course by Portuguese, Spanish and
German specialists.

Lectures will be held during mornings and laboratorial session during the
afternoons with a total of 4 ECTS. Most of the sessions will be in CIIMAR
facilities (Rua dos Bragas, 289, Porto, Portugal). Registrations will be until
