Dear all
I have just done quite a large restructuring of nannotax and whilst this should be mostly invisble you will notice a few differences
what have i done?
Previously we had separate databases/modules for cenozoic nannos, mesozoic nannos and non_coccos
These are now combined into one big database ntax_main
why have i done this?
This is simpler system and makes it much easier to handle taxa which occur in both the mesozoic and cenozic and more importantly it makes it easier to integrate nannotax with other databases - especially occurrence databases, such as CASCADE and NEPTUNE.
what difference does it make?
the main home page now has entries for mesozoic nannos and for non_coccos
there is still a Mesozoic page but it does not include taxa which have lots of cenozoic members - most obviously the Braarudosphaerales the
On the search page there are no longer separate columns for the different modules
etc.
..so, things will look a bit different and you may find some taxa are in different places, but mostly it should look the same and old links should all still work (including ones from search engines)
Apologies to anyone who was using nannotax over the last hour as the site went down during this change
If you come across problems in the next few days please do let me know.
If you can't get in then you may need to quit your browser and restart it
Jeremy
