Interesting question - they are definitely terrestrial and shallow marine not usre if they occur in deep water, and I am fairly sure they have only a limited fossil record - see the link for a recent paper with references to other fossil occurrences

I found it in Middle Eocene siltstones. Marine paleoenvironment around 150 meters depth according to planktic forams relative abundance, but it also has high number of continental palynomorphs. Are those tecamebas continental or marine? And also, are there records of them in the Eocene?
Cheers,
Juan

No problem. What was the depositional setting of this material and the sediment type?

Hi. I spoke to Jim Buckman (copied in here) who is working on this group – he suggest its Tracheleuglypha, possibly T. acolla.
Best wishes, Alex

Hi all,

Does anyone have any idea what this could be?
I found them at the SEM in samples from the middle Eocene (Lutetian) of Austral Basin (Argentina). It seems that it is not birefringent as I didn't see them at the OM.

Cheers,
Juan
