The UNESCO-IOC invites applications for the IOC Ocean Traineeships for 
2026 cohort. This programme aims to provide opportunities for hands-on  
learning and upskilling through a temporary assignment at host  
institutions with expertise on subject areas relevant to the IOC  
mandate.

For 2026 cohort, 8 host institutions offer placements to trainees  
providing their expertise in priority areas. The three-month  
traineeship begins between September and December 2026

Who can apply?

Training applicants must:


- be at the early stages of career development;

- be citizens from IOC Member States;
- be employed by government institutions, with the garanty of remain  
employed min 1 year after the traineeship ;
- work on activities contributing to implementation of work plans  
adopted by IOC Regional Sub-Commissions/IOC Mandate;
- have a supporting document of their institute/supervisor.
