INTERNATIONAL DINOFLAGELLATE CYST WORKSHOP

18th-21st June 2024

Vigo (Galicia, Spain)



Dear colleagues,

We are organising a workshop on dinoflagellate cysts in Vigo (Galicia,
Spain) from the 18th to the 21st of June, 2024. Save the date!

The event, supported by the Centre for Marine Research
<https://cim.uvigo.gal/en/> of the University of Vigo, will take place at
the Redeiras building
<https://www.uvigo.gal/en/university/communication/events/inauguracion-edificio-redeiras>
in Vigo. It aims to connect researchers of different disciplines and to
discuss hot topics in dinoflagellate cysts research such as cyst
applications and methodologies related to life cycles and bloom dynamics,
palaeoceanography (late Quaternary), taxonomy and data sharing, including
modern techniques such as genetic and geochemical approaches.

The workshop will include hands-on, round-table discussions and oral
presentation sessions where attendees can share their research experience,
brainstorm relevant ideas, and work together towards a list of
recommendations on how to improve dinoflagellate cyst studies and provide a
summary that could eventually lead to the publication of a white paper.

The workshop will include a one-day trip to the Cíes Islands (National
Park, candidate for the UNESCO World Heritage List).

No registration fee will be required, but participants will come at their
own expense.
