Hi All, I'd like to announce an upcoming algal taxonomy workshop: July 7-8, 2011, St. Joseph MI, USA.  The cost is $450/person and participation is limited to 12.  

This two day workshop is open to anyone interested in a hands-on introduction to algal taxonomy and applications for biological assessment and lake management. The course will consist of alternating lectures on laboratory methods, taxonomy of the major algal groups and ecology with concentrated microscope time on specific groups and assemblages with emphasis on light microscopy and use of taxonomic literature sources including on-line image collections.  Diversity indices and calculations will also be discussed.
