Dear colleagues,
It is with much sadness I have to tell you that Prof. Dr Eduardo A. 
Musacchio died on 18 May in an aeroplane crash in Argentina. He was still 
teaching at the Universidad Nacional de la Patagonia, Comodoro Rivadavia.
At the time of the accident, he was flying back from Mendoza, where he was 
visiting family and finishing arrangements for the 6 IRGC Symposium to be 
held in 2012. It is my intention to honour his commitment to the IRGC and 
maintain the schedule for the symposium. He was my PhD supervisor and 
frined, and the next IRGC gathering will be dedicated to him. His legacy is 
his work, his dedication to science, and his human qualities. He published 
numerous important papers on Mesozoic Ostracoda and Charales, taxonomy, 
biostratigraphy and palaeobiogeography, and he was an active teacher of 
undergraduate and post-graduate students.
As a family friend, my pain and thoughts are with them.
