The British & Irish Diatom Meeting, for Professionals, Students and Amateurs
Glencree Reconciliation Centre, Co. Wicklow, IRELAND
22-24th October 2010

The 2010 British Diatom meeting is travelling to Ireland. The meeting will be held at the Glencree Reconciliation Centre (http://glencree.ie) in the Wicklow Mountains. The weekend will follow the usual pattern of offered talks, posters, walks and discussion. A keynote talk will take place on Saturday night; speaker to be announced.  We will have a range of talks on Saturday and Sunday morning, while Saturday afternoon can be used for visiting the area, examining material or resting. Two microscopes will be available and participants are encouraged to bring microscope slides and photographic images.
If you would like to make an oral or poster presentation, please submit your abstract to catherine.dalton at mic.ul.ie by September 10th 2010.
Accommodation 
Glencree has 19 bedrooms that can accommodate up to 62 people in mainly twin and some multi bedded (4 and 10 person) dormitory rooms all of which are ensuite (http://glencree.ie/site/accommodation.htm).  All bed linen and towels are supplied.  Please indicate who you wish to share with on the registration form or via email.  Please note that 12 twin-bed rooms are available and will be allocated on a first come first served basis.  If you wish to stay locally Enniskerry village is a pretty village 15 minutes drive from Glencree with a range of accommodation (http://enniskerry.ie/where-to-stay/).

Getting to Glencree
Driving directions from Belfast, Dublin airport and city centre can be found at http://www.glencree.ie/site/find_us.htm.  See routes 2 and 4 if arriving by car via ferry terminals.  If arriving by public transport please make your way to Connolly, Tara or Pearse Street train stations or any Dart station and take train/Dart to Bray.  Participants will be ferried (approx. every 30 minutes) from Bray Dart Station to Glencree (30 minute drive) from 4pm until late on Friday the 22nd and back again on Sunday at the close of the meeting.  Offers to help carry people from airport/ferry terminal/Bray Dart Station would be much appreciated. Please note that Monday the 25th October is a bank holiday in southern Ireland.

Costs
Full board for the weekend (2 nights bed & breakfast, 2 dinners and 2 lunches) will be provided at a cost of ?110.  Full costs should be made payable to Mary Immaculate College.  

Please return the booking form as soon as possible to ensure room booking and no later than September 10th 2010 or there may be no rooms left.
