North American Diatom Symposium NADS 2009 Meeting: September 23-27
     Welcome to the 2009 NADS meeting website!
      The North American Diatom Symposium (NADS) is a biennial meeting normally held at field stations throughout the United States and Canada. 
     
      The meeting was first held in 1970 at Cedar Creek in Minnesota. Since that date, the gathering has been hosted at field stations in Florida, Colorado, Manitoba, Kentucky, Alabama, Ohio, Minnesota, Iowa, and Michigan. NADS usually attracts about 100-120 diatomists from North America and around the world. The meeting provides a student friendly atmosphere, ample opportunities to network and socialize, the ever-popular scum run, local field collecting trips, and lively auction of diatom related valuables. NADS is an informal society, that is, there are no formal officers or structure.
     

  This meeting provides the opportunity to catch up with collegues and talk to some of the foremost diatom researchers in an informal atmosphere, often a beautiful field station in North America.

The 20th NADS will be held from 23-27 September 2009 at Iowa Lakeside Laboratory near Milford, Iowa. Please join our biennial gathering of international researchers to present your work on any aspect of diatom research. We strive for a relaxed, friendly, and interactive experience, fostered in part by our small size. This meeting marks the 39th anniversary of the North American Diatom Symposium and will be a special celebration of the life of Charles W. Reimer. Student participation is strongly encouraged, with partial support available to those making presentations. Be sure to check the registration page for information on student support.
