[Lista-Algas] CURSOS 2009 en los ALPES ITALIANOS

The Limnological Station of Lake Tovel (Field Station of the Museo
Tridentino di Scienze Naturali-MTSN), a well-equipped laboratory situated on
the shores of the Lake, is devoted to University students courses in several
disciplines: Limnology, geology, botany, zoology.
Lake Tovel (1178 m a.s.l., Italian Alps), located in a beautiful valley of
the Brenta Dolomites, is notorious for a reddening phenomenon due to
planktonic algae (dinoflagellates).


For summer 2009 the MTSN is organizing the following summer schools:

1.- FROM THE 8TH TO THE 12TH OF JULY 2009
Introduzione allo studio delle diatomee (in Italian);

2.- FROM THE 5TH TO THE 10TH OF JULY 2009
Introduction to the study of phytoplankton (in English);
Course title: Introduction to the study of phytoplankton

General description: 
This hands-on course will focus on the methodologies of collection,
cultivation, preparation, observation and identification of the major algal
groups characterizing mountain lakes with different nutritional status.
Theoretical lessons on general limnology, taxonomy & ecology of
phytoplankton will also be provided.

Prof. Eugen ROTT, University of Innsbruck, Institute of Botany, Working
Group Hydrobotany, Austria

Participants:
The Workshop / Course is open to a maximum of 15 students (M.Sc., Ph.D.).

The deadline for submitting the registration is the 15th of May 2009.

Cost:
The overall cost requested, including tutoring, use of the facilities of the
Limnological Station of the Museum, accommodation and board is ? 350,00.
This participation fee includes all expenses: accommodation in the mountain
Hotel Albergo Lago Rosso at Lake Tovel in double rooms, all meals
(breakfast, lunch, dinner) at Albergo Lago Rosso. Accommodation in single
rooms may be obtained contacting in advance the Albergo Lago Rosso with the
assistance of the organizers and by paying the difference cash directly in
the Hotel.

Transfers:
Transfers from Trento to Tovel and back will be organized with the
assistance of the Museum staff.
