[Lista-Algas] brown algae

We will be hosting 2 conferences on the brown algal genomics model Ectocarpus and on Algal Culture Collections here in Oban, June 4-8 / 8-11, respectively ( http://www.ccap.ac.uk/ectocarpus2008.htm ; http://www.ccap.ac.uk/algalculturecollections2008.htm ). 

The meetings should appeal to a range of algal-related disciplines. We have just received news that the British Phycological Society (BPS) has generously offered to support student attendance of these conferences. With this support, we would be able to cover the registration fee and (depending on demand) possibly also part of the travel and subsistence of a number of students. 

The terms require that any student recipient of this BPS travel bursary will be expected to become a BPS member.

Applications for travel bursaries, accompanied by a CV and (if applicable) list of publications, should be sent to the Chair of the two conferences, Frithjof Kuepper (fck at sams.ac.uk) no later than Thursday evening, May 22. The Local Organizing Committee will decide about the awards on May 26.
