Colleagues,
The Friday Harbor Labs (FHL), University of Washington summer phycology
course needs the support of the phycological community.  FHL is committed to
offering each summer the organism-based algae and invertebrate courses, but
the courses will be taught only if there are students to take them.  Please
encourage graduate students and qualified undergraduate students to apply
for the summer phycology course.  Through its own scholarship program, FHL
offers generous support for tuition, room and board and is actively seeking
funds to endow these very courses to ensure their continuity.  In addition
graduate students who are members of the Phycological Society of America can
apply for funds to support their participation in the marine algae course
from the travel money from the Croasdale Fellowship Fund administered by the
Phycological Society.  A more detailed announcement about the summer 2007
course will follow shortly.
