Subject: [coccoliths] Community update from the Journal of Nannoplankton Research
Dear nannofossil and nannoplankton enthusiasts,
I’m happy to report that the next issue of the Journal of Nannoplankton Research will be printed in March! The first manuscripts from this issue will be online in the next few days, with more coming later in February and in early March. We also already have at least a couple of manuscripts for the second issue this year, which is scheduled to be printed in September, but we need your support! Please considering submitting a manuscript to the JNR in the next couple of months so that we can ensure we have enough articles to have a second issue this year! There are many benefits to publishing with the JNR, including:
-There is no charge for publishing a standard manuscript with greyscale figures and plates
-All manuscripts are assigned a DOI
-Current INA members receive 5 free color pages per manuscript. Otherwise color pages cost US$50/page
-We have a very reasonable charge for publishing open access at US$25/page and all manuscripts become open access one year after the volume is published
-Nannoptlankton/nannofossil images are added to Nannotax
-Manuscripts are published online as soon as they are typeset, with the available online date published in the PDF and in the print volume
Additionally, templates for your next manuscript or taxonomic note are now available on the JNR website (https://ina.tmsoc.org/JNR/JNRinstructions.htm)! You can download the template in MS Word or RTF format. These templates include the correct formatting for systematic paleontology, as well as several examples of references formatting (including DOIs when available). We hope this will help make it easier for you to submit your manuscripts!
Lastly, a PDF of the presentation that Jean Self-Trail, Emma Sheldon, and I gave during the iNA19 masterclass on writing and reviewing manuscripts is also now available for download from the link above! The PDF includes tips and information to help you prepare your manuscript.
We at the JNR look forward to receiving your manuscripts soon! Please submit manuscripts to JNR.submission at hotmail.com<mailto:JNR.submission at hotmail.com>. Your submission should include a text document (.docx or .rtf format), with figures and plates submitted as a single PDF. Tables can be submitted in Excel or PDF format for review. Let me know if you have any questions!
Cheers,
Denise
