Subject: [coccoliths] Looking for someone to assist with interpretation/write-up of Eocene-Oligocene nannofossil results from Zagros area, Iran

Hi all,

Hope all of you and your families are safe and healthy!

I recently reviewed a manuscript (and its revision) submitted to the International Journal of Earth Sciences. The sole author is from an institution in Iran and has samples from a drill core in the Zagros Basin in Iran. The manuscript focuses on the biostratigraphy and some paleoenvironmental interpretation and includes some nice photomicrographs. The author did a nice job addressing many of the scientific points in my original review but was unable to significantly improve the English. I recommended that the author get assistance in that regard and suggested it might be a good idea to collaborate with another nannofossil specialist for this assistance since that person could also help with expanding the paleoenvironmental interpretation. Since I signed my name to the reviews, the author contacted me to see if I could assist. Unfortunately because of U.S. sanctions, getting permission to work with someone in Iran is a lengthy process and my director will not approve me trying to gain permission. Thus, I’d like to put the author in touch with another member of the nannofossil community who would be willing to help. I provided substantial feedback and suggestions of the original manuscript, with some additional suggestions on the revised version. I think this will help substantially in making it reasonably easy to get the manuscript into good shape.

If any of you would be willing to help, please let me know!

Cheers,
Denise
