Algae have long been exploited in areas such as nutrition (human and
animal), pharmaceuticals and cosmetics, especially in France because of
its extensive coastline. Currently, ambitious projects are being prepared
to develop and increase the value of algae because they have significant
potential to address the problems of depletion of fossil resources, and
the environmental challenges of the world.

In fact, photosynthesis transforms carbon dioxide into organic
molecules where their productivity is much higher than that of plants.
The variety of phylogenic types broadens prospects for accessing many
molecules that can substitute intermediates or that can bring new
functionality. However, exploiting the potential of algal resources
presents many scientific, technical and technological challenges
involving multiple disciplines to overcome these obstacles (biology,
chemistry, process engineering, ...).

This international conference aims at promoting public and private
research and development for the valuation of algae (macro and micro). It
addresses key themes through a multidisciplinary and multisectorial
approach, from their culture to various potential opportunities. It is a
unique chance for world leaders in this field, as well as chemists and
biologists, to exchange ideas.

The objective is to establish the state of the art for the valuation
of algae (macro and micro), to detect the latest scientific, technical
and technological breakthroughs, and identify new opportunities. It will
focus on products, and chemical and biological processes associated with
the transformation of algae, and foster discussions on these topics.
