En la próxima 2010 MEETING OF THE AMERICAS que se realizará en Foz de
Iguazú, del 8 al 13 de agosto (
<a href="http://www.agu.org/meetings/ja10" eudora="autourl">
http://www.agu.org/meetings/ja10</a>) hemos organizado una sesión
dedicada a las recontrucciones paleoclimáticas y paleoambientales basadas
en bioproxies.<br>

Transcribo a continuación un resumen de los objetivos de esta
sesión:<br>

<dd><i>GC05 "ENVIRONMENTAL AND CLIMATIC RECONSTRUCTION BASED ON
BIOLOGICAL PROXIES).
<dd>This session will evaluate the impact of environmental and climatic
variability during the Late Pleistocene and the Holocene for South
America applying biological proxy parameters. Such multiproxy studies are
important to overview natural and human induced impacts recorded in
archives like e.g. lake sediments. Moreover, the use of
bioindicators is of high priority for paleoenvironmental reconstruction.
South America is of particular interest for testing Late Quaternary
global changes because it is a unique continent sustaining a suite of
cold-temperate to tropical ecosystems along altitudinal and latitudinal
gradients. We request abstracts for studies focusing on
paleobioindicators especially from lakes. However, other terrestrial
archives of past environmental conditions from South America will be
considered as well.
