The project involves the identification </SPAN></FONT><FONT face="Times New Roman" size=3><SPAN lang=EN-US style="FONT-SIZE: 12pt; FONT-FAMILY: 'Times New Roman'">and characterization of sex-specific proteins and genes in the brown alga <I><SPAN style="FONT-STYLE: italic">Ectocarpus siliculosus. </SPAN></I>The primary aim is to isolate lectins and glycoproteins known to mediate cell recognition between male and female gametes.
