unique marine facilities for algal research at the Trondheim
Marine Systems Research Infrastructure are now available for free
access!
Hydralab III, an Integrated Infrastructure Initiative in the 6th
framework programme of the EC, invites European scientists to submit a
proposal for access before the deadline of 30 SEPTEMBER 2007.

In
Trondheim, the following facilities are accessible:
* Research Vessel
Gunnerus (new coastal vessel of about 30 m long,
equipped with the latest
technology for a variety of research activities)
* Outdoor seawater basin
(basin, continuously supplied with seawater
from 100 m depth; ideal for
ecological, sedimentation and bio-optical
studies and for instrument
testing)
* Sletvik field station (semi-enclosed bay with experimental test
facilities and unpolluted coastal waters)
* Ocean Basin (very large
experimental basin up to 10 m deep, with wind,
waves up to 0.9 m high and
steady currents)
* Coriolis rotating basin (5 m diameter basin to study
physical
processes affected by the rotation of the earth)
* Marine
Cybernetics laboratory (basin for testing ships, rigs,
underwater vehicle
and propuslsion systems)

Through the project, the European Commission
finances access to the
research infrastructures, in addition to travel and
subsistence expenses
for its users. It is recommended to send a draft
proposal to the
infrastructure manager well in advance of the deadline for
submission.

See:
<A
