internet on a user-friendly course platform (10 April - 12 June) followed by a
6-day practical course in Copenhagen (29 July - 3 August). Expenses must be
covered by the participants. Nordic students may apply for financial support
from Nordic School of Phycology (contact Henrik Enevoldsen at <A

style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Aim</SPAN></B><BR>The course will theoretically and
practically deal with the morphology, systematics, biology, and ecology of
harmful marine phytoplankton. During the course students will be introduced to
species identification, methods for working with phytoplankton organisms and
toxicity. Students will primarily work with light microscopy, but will also be
introduced to electron microscopy, DNA techniques and HPLC.<BR><BR><B><SPAN
style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Contents</SPAN></B><BR>Identification, isolation,
nutrition, growth media, life cycles, phylogeny and toxicity of marine plankton.
<BR><BR><B><SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold">Books</SPAN></B><BR>Articles will be
handed out electronically. We also recommend C. Tomas (ed.): Identifying Mariane
Diatoms and Dinoflagellates.<BR><BR><B><SPAN
